Character and Citizenship Framework
At Jiemin Primary School, Character and Citizenship Education (CCE) forms the heart of our efforts in nurturing students who are confident in their learning, caring and being responsible members of our society. Guided by our school’s vision – Global Learners, Discerning Citizens and our mission – Nurturing Hearts, Nurturing Minds, CCE empowers our students to thrive with our values and purpose in an ever-changing world.
Our CCE programmes offer a holistic and engaging journey. It is designed to cultivate strong character, a deep sense of civic responsibility, and a proud national identity in our students. Grounded in the Ministry of Education's CCE 2021 Curriculum Frame (as illustrated in Figure 1), our programmes are strategically aligned with MOE’s goals of helping students internalise core values, develop crucial social-emotional competencies, and prepare for the evolving demands of a rapidly changing world, so that they can become active contributors to the community.
We intentionally cultivate the Jiemin core values: Resilience, Responsibility, Respect, Humility, Care. These values are infused across classroom interactions, school-wide initiatives, and real-life experiences that shape our students’ identity and character. From the everyday interactions in the classroom to impactful school-wide initiatives, each experience is thoughtfully designed to nurture growth in both their hearts and minds.
Key Highlights of our CCE Programme:
Building Character Through Everyday Experiences:
We believe that character development is an ongoing process. Our daily classroom routines and interactions are infused with opportunities for students to practice and internalize our core values.
Experiential Learning Through Cohort Learning Journeys (LJs):
We provide enriching out-of-classroom experiences that bring learning to life and deepen understanding of our heritage and society.
Empowering Student Leadership and Kindness:
Our Prefects and Peer Support Leaders drive the Kindness Movement, actively promoting a positive and supportive school environment and encouraging empathy and care among students.
