Peer Support@Jiemin
Peer Support @ JPS 2025
Peer Support Relationships (PSR) initiative builds on our school’s culture of care and aims to create a caring and enabling environment in Jiemin Primary School. The school leverages on our Peer Support Leaders to strengthen positive pro-social and support network through Peer Bonding, Peer Helping and Peer Influencing.
Peer Support and Relationships (PSR) Framework
Peer Support Leaders (PSLs)
We believe that every Jieminite can be a Peer Supporter. All Jieminites will be equipped with the basic PSR knowledge and skills once a term. However, a selected group of Student Leaders known as Peer Support Leaders are further trained to contribute to PSR initiatives. They are appointed from Primary 3 onwards and their appointments are recognized during the Student Leaders Investiture in Term 2.
1. Peer Bonding
In our efforts to foster bonds and sense of belonging in Jiemin Primary School, various initiatives are being conducted by the PSLs. They help to orientate new Jieminites during our P1 Orientation. They also manage a structured play programme during recess called PLAY (Patience, Listen, Appreciate, Yay!)@Jiemin. Playing a variety of games with their peers enable them to strengthen bonds and encourage 21 CC Competencies such as communication and collaboration skills. PSLs undergo training sessions at least once a term where they practise teamwork as they solve challenges together.

2. Peer Helping
PSLs are trained to identify signs of distress in their peers and ways to help them. A whole school approach adopted by Jiemin Primary School is ACT3. PSLs will hear their peers out and will help them refer to a teacher for help. In their efforts to encourage their fellow P6 Jieminites, motivational posters were created by PSLs for the P6s every year as they strive towards PSLE.
3. Peer Influencing
To achieve a caring and enabling environment, PSLs also play an important role in influencing good behaviour face to face and online among their peers. They contribute to spreading kindness and emphasize key Cyber Wellness messages such as being a safe, responsible user of technology and to maintain a positive presence online. The various initiatives to achieve this are our Cyber Monday sharing sessions by PSLs, Safer Internet Day, Being Kind is Cool Performance on Children’s Day and recess activity booths during Kindness and Cyber Wellness Week.
