Leadership development in Jiemin

At Jiemin Primary School, we are committed to developing strong leaders who embody our school values and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) competencies. We believe that every Jieminite is a leader in their own right and leadership begins in us. Our leadership development programme is designed to create, nuture, and expand leadership opportunities for all Jieminites.

Our Three Developmental Stage

The three stages signify our structured developmental approach.

Stage 1

"A leader in Me" (P1-P2)

At this stage, Self-Leadership sets the foundation for developing leadership potential by focusing on self-mastery and personal effectiveness for all our Jieminites.

Stage 2

"To Lead by Example" (P3-P4)

At this stage, students are encouraged to show and practice leadership when leading themselves and others.

Stage 3

"To lead is to Serve" (P5-P6)

At this stage, Jieminites who are ready, assume leadership positions at the school level, where they lead their peers, focusing on serving the school community.

Prefectorial Board

At Jiemin Primary School, Jieminites with leadership potential are appointed to the Prefectorial Board to further develop their leadership abilities.

Jieminites with leadership potential are carefully selected through a structured process to serve on the Prefectorial Board. These prefects are officially inaugurated during our annual Prefect Investiture.

To support their development, Prefects undergo specialised leadership training, including public speaking and how to guide their peers to uphold the school values.

Beyong their daily responsibilities, Prefects are given the opportunities to lead their peers on a school-wide level. They actively contribue by delivering messages on values and social skills, organising events including the Teachers' Day concert, and taking on key roles in major school functions such as the Primary 1 Orientation and Annual Prize Presentation.
